Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
Defination : Inflammation of the genital tract including endometritis, salphingitis, oophoritis etc.
- Causes:
- STD,
- After abortion/ MR,
- IUCD insertion,
- Multiple sexual partners etc etc.
Symptoms:
LAP, LBP, offensive purulent vaginal discharge, irregular menstruation, dyspareunia, fever, dysuria, sometimes postcoital bleeding, on p/v exam swelling and redness of vulva-vagina, tender, congested cervix, H/o sexual exposure.
Treatment :
- 1. Analgesic
- 2. Antibiotic
- 3. Metronidazole
- 4. Antihistamine if need
- 5. Topical, VT if need
